About
Colorspace Arts is a community art space. We foster a friendly and supportive environment for art-making by offering figure drawing and painting from the live model, as well as art classes and workshops for adults and children.
The studio organizes several uninstructed long pose and short pose sessions on a weekly basis. We also host workshops from visiting artists.
The space can be rented on an hourly basis to individuals or groups for working with the model, workshops, or other art projects.
We are excited to share our space with Liv and Chiu Art Studio ↗. Their program offers an expanded repertoire of classes, workshops and figure drawing. By maximizing the use of the studio, we make art accessible to our community.

Melon Basketry Workshop
with Michele Hament
Sunday, October 16th, 10 – 3:30
$125 (check or cash, please)
Held at: Colorspace Arts, 10512 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito
Learn to construct and weave a unique, colorful and sturdy Appalachian-style ribbed basket using rattan, natural and hand-dyed reed, and sea grass. This basket, with a rattan handle, can be made in a variety of shapes, sizes and patterns. After making a ribbed frame, we will weave with colored reed on the sides and finish the body with pale green sea grass. At the end of the workshop you will have completed a basket approximately 10” wide by 5” deep (not counting the handle.)
I will also cover the use of other materials, including grapevine and wisteria for the handle. Feel free to bring anything you might want to incorporate into your basket, such as strips of fabric, thick yarns or any other flexible material. Please bring a lunch.
